Kimberly D. Thresher

Biography

Kim’s practice focuses on construction, commercial, and franchise litigation and transactional matters. Over her more than two decades of experience, Kim has handled a wide range of legal issues, with specific focus on corporate and construction law over the last 17 years. She is known for her aggressive representation of clients and her commitment to being a fierce advocate, whether in court or while drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements. Kim has played a key role in helping form numerous companies while providing strategic guidance to help ensure their success.

Throughout her career, Kim has worked for large firms, had her own practice and worked with her family at Thresher & Thresher, P.A., where she handled construction law matters. She expanded the firm’s scope by building a corporate practice, representing clients for almost 11 years there. Her experience spans medical malpractice and insurance defense, serving as General Counsel to a Tampa start-up, and extensive work in construction law and commercial litigation. In recognition of her deep expertise, Kim became Board Certified in Construction Law in 2024.

Kim has extensive experience in contract drafting, negotiation and litigation for residential and commercial clients, including but not limited to owners, developers, general contractors and subcontractors. She has also handled transactional and litigation matters for and against various government entities. Her work includes drafting and negotiating several multi-million dollar contract negotiations for commercial clients in Florida and Texas, as well as several a high-stakes disputes exceeding $100 million plus commercial projects.

Guided by her favorite quote, "be the change you want to see in the world," Kim strives to make a positive impact. Passionate about her clients, family, and community, Kim is a strong advocate for education. In addition to her legal practice, Kim taught Business Law and Social Responsibility at the University of Tampa. She has also served with honor on the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Board since 2012, including as Chairwoman from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, Kim has served on numerous boards for local governments, bar associations, corporations, and non-profits. Outside of work and her community involvement, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
