Susan B. Zaunbrecher Takes on New Role at Fifth Third Bancorp
After nearly 30 years with Dinsmore, corporate partner and department chair Susan B. Zaunbrecher has transitioned to the role of chief legal officer of Fifth Third Bancorp. Zaunbrecher succeeds Jelena McWilliams, who was recently confirmed chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
An experienced business strategist with a goal-oriented approach to legal counsel, Zaunbrecher has helped some of the region’s largest financial institutions, community banks and corporations navigate challenges and maximize opportunities. Throughout her time at Dinsmore, her work included organizing denovo financial institutions and business entities, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, capital formation, and all aspects of regulatory compliance. As chair of the corporate department, Zaunbrecher led 200 attorneys practicing across a full range of business disciplines.
Zaunbrecher’s contributions to Dinsmore extended beyond her legal practice. Over the years, she served on the firm’s board of directors, executive committee, professional development, evaluation and diversity committees. Known for her engaging flair and enthusiasm, she also helped bring colleagues together as chair of the firm’s social committee.
