In a recent volume of the Ohio State Law Journal, Natalie Engel wrote 'Highway to the Safety Zone: Why the Highway Beautification Act Should be Repealed and its Federal Oversight Power Transferred to the States'. She argues "that the regulatory power bestowed on the Federal Highway Administration by the Highway Beautification Act of 1965 and the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1958 must be abolished in favor of allowing the states to conduct their own oversight. If these measures are not taken, the United States government risks the further alienation of American citizens’ constitutional rights and continued waste of precious government time and taxpayer dollars."
