July 20, 2020News Releases

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has earned a Band 1 ranking in the 2020 edition of Chambers and Partners High Net Worth (HNW) Guide.

Chambers and Partners launched the Chambers High Net Worth Guide this year, focusing specifically on the international private wealth market. The guide provides access to the notable firms and attorneys around the globe.

Dinsmore’s ranking was calculated through interviews Chambers conducted with outside parties throughout the United States. Law firms and individual attorneys are ranked in bands from one to six, with one being the best.

J. Michael Cooney, partner in the Cincinnati office, is ranked a Senior Statesperson. He advises clients on estate planning, federal and state estate and gift tax matters and related income tax planning. He represents trustees and trust beneficiaries in legal issues with respect to trust administration.

“Mike Cooney is one of the best lawyers in Ohio," a peer stated, adding, "he's excellent and his clients really like him because he's very practical, reasonable, effective and smart. He's a great guy and he's been a leader for the state bar, and state chair for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in Ohio.”

Cincinnati partner Lee Stautberg is ranked Band 1. Stautberg directs her primary attention to the needs of privately held businesses and their owners, where she serves as attorney and trusted adviser on business issues and succession, tax and estate planning.

A fellow attorney describes Lee as, "She's very strong technically and very collegial. She is very skilled and a very strong estate planner."

Glen Bagby is a partner in the firm’s Lexington office. His practice includes all types of wills, trusts, POA and much more. Bagby is listed for the first time and third-ranked.

"He is very, very good," said a local wealth adviser, who described him as "thoughtful, bright and responsive."

Lexington partner Wade Lawson is listed for the first time and ranked third. He concentrates his practice on estate and gift tax planning, estate and trust administration, fiduciary income tax preparation and general business practice. Lawson is also a CPA.

"He is a very knowledgeable lawyer about planning techniques, he has an immediate understanding and comfort level with what we are discussing," a peer said. "He is good at multi-generational work, especially for the younger generation.

Recognized as Up and Coming, Joshua Rogers, the managing partner of the Morgantown office, advises high-net-worth clients on matters including business succession and wealth planning.

"He has a tax background, which lends itself to this planning and gives him an edge," one peer said.

Other commentators highlighted Rogers' client service skills. One notes that he is good at "explaining things to clients, especially simplifying complex information such as how the estate process works. He listens to clients and gets to know them and understand them; he wants the best for them."
