We asked Natalia: What do you believe is the formula for addressing LGBTQ+ issues within the legal industry while maintaining a solid, inclusive community that brings all of us together?
The best formula for creating an equitable environment in any corporate setting, but especially in the legal industry, starts with education. To a person who is straight or cisgender, it can be very easy to overlook issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community because you may not have been properly exposed or educated to the ongoing struggles they experience every day. As supporters and allies, we need to make sure those resources are available and provide a space for open and honest discussions. I was very pleased to see the firm providing an opportunity for attorneys and staff to have these interactions in a safe space in seminars and roundtable discussions.
