Biography

As a Partner at Dinsmore, Matt provides clients with exceptional legal advice across various industries, practice areas, and business classes. With a focus on complex commercial litigation, shareholder litigation, real estate litigation, and general corporate counseling, Matt approaches each matter with a collaborative approach and is a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and business leaders.

Since joining Dinsmore in 2020, Matt has demonstrated his versatility by working with clients in wide variety of industries, including commercial finance, media, transportation, medicine, franchised businesses, manufacturing and nearly every aspect of real estate from landlord-tenant disputes to complex real estate finance and development. He is also well-versed in personal and business torts, estate administration, property tax, employment law, and corporate law. With nearly 20 years of experience in litigation, Matt has had extensive experience working with experts on matters requiring forensic accounting, business valuations, computer forensics and complex electronic discovery. He has actively litigated matters in numerous state and federal jurisdictions throughout the country.

Matt's clients value his willingness to go above and beyond, always exhibiting attentiveness and responsiveness, and often collaborating with attorneys in other practice areas throughout the firm, when necessary, to fully serve the client’s needs. He is committed to building strong relationships with his clients based on mutual respect and trust; a philosophy that has earned him a loyal following of long-term clients.

Prior to joining Dinsmore, Matt worked at Golan Christie Taglia LLP, where he steadily progressed from Associate to Income Partner and then Equity Partner. As a Business and Commercial Litigation Partner, he managed a large docket of cases involving various legal matters pending before state and federal courts located in Chicago. In this role, he collaborated with transactional attorneys on matters concerning health care, ERISA, third-party administration, real estate, finance, intellectual property, estate planning, and tax.

Matt's commitment to the legal profession and his clients has earned him numerous accolades, including being recognized as a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine from 2010 to 2020. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law, during which time he went to law school in the evening while working as an Intern at Howard & Howard f/k/a Defrees & Fiske, LLC, before advancing to Associate. Additionally, he served as a Project Assistant at Nixon Peabody f/k/a Ungaretti & Harris and clerked at Krohn & Moss, LLC. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy.

Matt grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and maintains a strong allegiance to Cleveland sports, despite living his entire adult life in Chicago. Matt enjoys playing golf, exercising, and spending time with his wife and three children.
