Addition of Six Construction Litigators in Denver Will Be Catalyst for Future Growth at Dinsmore

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has more than doubled its attorneys in Denver with the addition of six commercial litigators, who focus their practice on the construction industry.

Partners Michael Paul, Todd Fleckenstein, Kelley Albright, Kevin Poyner, Nick Snow and associate Matt Blubaugh have joined the national firm’s growing office from the regional firm of Hall & Evans LLC, where Paul, the longest-tenured of the team, practiced for 12 years. The team represents developers, general contractors, architects and engineers in drafting contracts and helping with front-end negotiations, including sureties and bonds. They also represent the same clients in wrongful death and injury cases, due to the dangerous nature of construction sites, and they have experience in asbestos and environmental work as well.

“Denver is exploding, and our clients are doing more and more work both here and across the country,” Paul said. “By joining Dinsmore with its national platform, we can help them in so many more ways, and Dinsmore’s existing clients now have construction counsel in the Rocky Mountain region as well.”

Erich Kennedy, the founding partner of Dinsmore’s Denver office, said the move is momentous for the firm in Colorado.

“Our new colleagues are young, energetic and at the top of their craft,” he said. “They bring our office to a jumping-off point to gain further momentum in Denver and to help us match Dinsmore’s national platform here in Colorado.”

Both Kennedy and Paul see the union as just the beginning for Dinsmore’s local expansion.

“We will continue to grow and diversify by adding top-notch attorneys to help our clients, who are doing more and more work in Colorado all the time,” Paul said.

Kennedy, a public finance partner, said he is actively looking to grow the office with public finance and corporate lawyers.

“We have doubled our attorneys with this move and we plan to do so again in the coming years,” he said. “We are already discussing the best ways to accommodate our planned growth.”

This kind of expansion has become routine for Dinsmore, which earlier this year executed the largest legal merger of 2021 thus far, when it joined forces with Wooden McLaughlin in Indiana and opened three new offices. The firm also added six mergers and acquisitions partners in the Midwest this week, and from 2017-20, Dinsmore opened offices in Cleveland, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Boston and Tampa.
