Dinsmore Welcomes 27 Associates

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has added 27 new associates to the firm across 12 offices. 

Atlanta, GA

Megan R. Giles joined the Atlanta office and will practice out of the labor and employment department. Giles received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. While attending law school, she worked as student attorney at University of Michigan Juvenile Justice and Child Advocacy Clinics, providing comprehensive legal representation for clients.

Charleston, WV


Chandler E. Strogen joined the Charleston office and will practice out of the labor and employment department. Strogen received her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law. In just three years, she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in political science from West Virginia University. During her 3L year, Chandler worked in a general litigation clinic, winning motion for summary judgment and settled a property flood case for a Vietnam veteran.

Cincinnati, OH


Lindsey N. Boyd joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the labor and employment department. Boyd previously participated in Dinsmore’s summer associate program and was the recipient of Dinsmore’s Law Fellowship. She also spent a season as a legal extern for Judge Susan J. Dlott for the Southern District of Ohio. Boyd received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Richard P. Brooks joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the intellectual property department. A graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Law, Brooks worked as a patent agent in New York, corresponding with clients concerning patent prosecution strategy, and drafted patent applications. During law school, Brooks served as executive publications editor for the Buffalo Law Review.
 

Kevin K. Coker joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the finance department, focusing on public finance. Coker earned a B.S.B.A. in Economics while competing as a Division 1 basketball player at Xavier University. He received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. In law school, Coker served as the president of the Black Law Students Association. He serves as a mentor through the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and is currently a board member of the Friars Club, contributing ideas and initiatives to further their mission of serving at-risk children in Cincinnati. Coker is proficient in Ga, the native language of Ghana.

R. Elizabeth (Betsy) Emmert joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the corporate department focusing on real estate development. She received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law with a certificate in Corporate Law. Emmert previously worked at Dinsmore as a summer associate. During law school, she was notes and comments editor for the University of Cincinnati Law Review and she served as an extern for Judge Michael R. Barrett in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Leon A. Hampton joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the corporate department. Hampton received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and worked at Dinsmore part time between attending classes. Dinsmore selected Hampton for their 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholar program. While in school, Hampton was the mentorship chair for the Black Law Students Association, a representative for the Student Legal Education Committee, and a College of Law ambassador. Leon currently serves as the president of the Xavier University Black Alumni Association and is as a board member on the National Alumni Board.
 

Jenna M. Heaphy joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the litigation department focusing on False Claims Acts law. Heaphy worked as a legal extern for USA Track & Field (USATF), conducting legal research for the legal and business affairs department. She reviewed and maintained contracts USATF had with vendors and assisted the general counsel writing legal memoranda. Heaphy received her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.


Mark J. Leisring joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the intellectual property department. Leisring participated in Wood Herron & Evans summer associate program, examining patents and drafting supporting memoranda for freedom to operate opinions. He received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Intellectual Property & Computer Law Journal. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering and worked as a process engineer at a specialty pigment manufacturer prior to pursuing his J.D.

Tarah K. Rémy joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the intellectual property department. Rémy joins Dinsmore from The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (KSO), where she assisted the KSO general manager prepare grant requests and assisted with database management. During undergrad, Rémy was a principal player for the Eastern Kentucky University Symphony and String Orchestras. She earned her J.D. from Northern Kentucky College of Law. During law school, Rémy was president of the Student Bar Association, vice president of the Christian Legal Society as well as lead articles editor of the Northern Kentucky Law Review.
 

Clayton J. Smith joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the litigation department. During law school, Smith was selected to be a part of the Milton Stewart Fellows Overseas Externship program and spent a summer in Tokyo as a summer associate for L&J Law Offices. He conducted research and wrote memos pertaining to international financial and maritime matters. Smith received his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Bradley M. Thompson joined the Cincinnati office and will practice out of the corporate department. Thompson received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law with a concentration in Business Law. Thompson participated in the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, assisting a local start-up and a non-profit corporation. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Thompson worked through the Association of Corporate Counsel as a legal intern at Krauss-Maffei Corporation, where he assisted the general counsel with the day-to-day operations of the legal department for a multinational corporation.
 

Columbus, OH

P. Danielle Cortez joined the Columbus office and will practice out of the corporate department. She received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. During law school, Cortez participated in the Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinic at Ohio State, which serves startups, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations in need of transactional legal assistance. Cortez spent time as a volunteer law clerk at the Legal Aid Society of Columbus working in the Tenant Advocacy Project.

Julia E. Konieczny joined the Columbus office and will practice out of the finance department with a focus on public finance. Konieczny worked for Indiana Legal Services in Bloomington, assisting in foreclosure and bankruptcy defense for indigent and rural clients. She also served in various mentoring capacities during law school and was a TA for the first-year legal research and writing class at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she received her J.D.

Rachel E. Shonebarger joined the Columbus office and will practice out of the litigation department. Shonebarger previously worked as a law clerk, drafting legal memoranda and conducting legal research in education law and employment law. She received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. While in school, Shonebarger was a member of the Ohio State Law Journal and participated in the Civil Law Clinic drafting pleadings and discovery requests.

Dayton, OH

Quinten M. Campbell joined the Dayton office and will practice out of the intellectual property department. New to Ohio, Campbell previously resided in Missouri, where he participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program mentoring a ten-year old boy. Campbell was also a participant in Peking University’s study abroad program, spending a summer in Beijing. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.

Madison A. Rittley joined the Dayton office and will practice out of the corporate department. Rittley spent a semester in law school externing for Magistrate Judge Sharon L. Ovington in the Southern District of Ohio.  She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Dayton School of Law, where she was a comment editor for the Law Review.

Detroit, MI

Matthew D. Epstein joined the Troy office and will practice out of the intellectual property department. Epstein joins Dinsmore from LeClairRyan, where he worked as a patent attorney preparing and prosecuting both domestic and foreign patent applications in electro-mechanical and optical technical areas. Epstein is a member of the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association as well as Michigan’s Pro Bono Patent Project. He received his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law.

Huntington, WV

William C. Brown, III joined the Huntington office and will practice out of the corporate department. Brown received his J.D. from William & Mary Law School. During his 3L year in law school at William & Mary, Brown worked in four clinics. He was also a judicial intern for Roderick C. Young, United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. He researched and drafted memoranda on civil and criminal topics. In addition, he summarized published Fourth Circuit opinions and assisted with settlement conferences.

Louisville, KY

Philip E. Cecil joined the Louisville office and will practice out of the litigation department. During law school Cecil externed for Brown-Forman, the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Western District of Kentucky, and Judge Jorge Luis Alonso in the Northern District of Illinois. Cecil was also a litigation intern for a firm in London, UK during his undergrad at the University of Louisville. He received his J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. 

Kylie A. King joined the Louisville office and will practice out of the litigation department. She received her J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where she received the CALI award for highest grade in Torts 1 and worked on the law review. King clerked at Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Goodman preforming legal research and drafting memos, motions, and other documents at various stages of the judicial process.

Christopher S. Zelli joined the Louisville office and will practice out of the litigation department. Zelli returns to Dinsmore after working as a summer associate and law clerk with the firm. He received his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law where he graduated summa cum laude, earned seven CALI awards for highest grade in his class, and served as the managing editor of the University of Louisville Law Review.

Lexington, KY

Kyle R. Bunnell joined the Lexington office and will practice out of the litigation department focusing on commercial litigation and tort law. He spent the beginning of the year as a legal intern for the University of Kentucky Legal Clinic, drafting pleadings and appearing in court on behalf of indigent clients. Bunnell received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he was the president of the Student Bar Association, International Law Society, and an executive development editor on the law journal.

Mary Lancaster Tanner will be joining the Lexington office and will practice out of the litigation department. During law school, Tanner clerked for Judge Eugene E. Siler of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Tanner was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, Women’s Law Caucus and was chair of the Federalist Society Community Outreach.

Morgantown, WV

Hannah E. Williams joined the Morgantown office and will practice out of the corporate department. For the past few years Williams has been a certified volunteer for Morgantown’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, assisting low-income families with tax return preparation and filing in addition to educating the families on saving their tax refund. She also worked as peer writing consultant for two years in the writing center at West Virginia University College of Law, where she earned her J.D. Williams also earned her M.B.A. from West Virginia University, completing a dual degree program this year.

Pittsburgh, PA

Lauren K. Levenson joined the Pittsburgh office and will practice out of the litigation department. Levenson earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. During law school, Levenson was an ambassador for the university, a staff editor for the Journal of Law and Commerce, and a teacher’s assistant for Legal Writing. She received a CALI award for the highest grade in both Expert Witness and Federal Income Tax. Levenson previously worked as a law clerk at Kontos Mengine Law Group, drafting complaints, demand packages, discovery interrogatories, mediation statements, and memoranda for personal injury matters.
